Abby Doyle brings both heart and expertise to her role as Chief Deputy Auditor for St. Joseph County. With a Master’s in Accounting and a passion for public service, she offers a strong foundation built on years of experience across local government, public education, and nonprofit management. Known for her innovative leadership and clear communication, Abby has successfully led teams through complex projects and meaningful change.

In 2024, she was appointed to a three-year term on the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Budget Committee, where she helps shape best practices in public budgeting nationwide. That same year, St. Joseph County earned its first-ever GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for FY24, which is a proud milestone for the community.

Running on the message “Accounting Toward the Future,” Abby blends technical skill with compassion and a deep dedication to public service. Whether she’s analyzing financial data or mentoring the next generation of leaders, Abby is committed to maintaining a fiscally strong future for St. Joseph County.


What Does the County Auditor Do?

The County Auditor is the acting Chief Financial Officer of the County. The duties of the County Auditor’s office include:

  • Compilation of the annual budget and administration of transfers and appropriations

  • Preparation of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)

  • Accounting for all federal grants

  • Distribution of tax revenue to taxing units in the county

  • Property tax deductions applications and compliance

  • Property deed transfers

  • Parcel number maintenance, including parcel splits and combines

  • Calculation of annual real property abatements and all abatement imposed fees

  • Calculation of TIF values, including annual TIF neutralization

  • Certification of net assessed values for use in setting tax rates

  • Accounts payable and receivable

  • County Payroll
